What is Ogg Vorbis?
Ogg Vorbis is a new audio compression format. It is roughly comparable to other formats used to store and play digital music, such as MP3, VQF, AAC, and other digital audio formats. It is different from these other formats because it is completely free, open, and unpatented.
This is just a test of an MP3 and OGG file, no real podcast yet.

Stickam allows me, like YouTube, to upload and have video played back in flash format on any website that supports the embedded player. The real magic of Stickam is the ability to upload –LIVE — video from a USB web camera or a Firewire DV camera using nothing more than a browser with a recent version of flash. The flash uploading works with Linux, OS X and Windows. If no live video is running, click the MENU button and then View Movies to see what’s available.

Never a huge fan of the defacto standard microblog Twitter because the community was so centralized, when it really didn’t have to be. It felt like the early days of AOL and Compuserve. The internet is distributed and decentralized and this application is clearly not. With the reliability issues that Twitter was was having, something was bound to happen. Enter Laconica – distributed open microblogging. Still in development but it gives you the opportunity to run your own community and subscribe to others on other servers.
The Virtual Drive has registered the domain name vdrive.ca and has started a new Laconcia server . Also check out the new site which is our new tech blog location.
